We are officially 3 months in !! 10 1/2 weeks till we come home :) I find myself still craving Sonic more than anything except the other day and I had a moment where I almost suggested we go to Taco Bell and then sadly realized that was impossible. Good news though, my downstairs neighbor Bob, just informed me a few minutes ago, they opened a new Tex-Mex restaurant downtown! My hopes are all ready way up :) He said he would take the bus with me since I haven't done that yet but he wouldn't eat because he doesn't like Mexican food LOL... I declined the offer :) We go to a place called That Little Mexican Place probably once every 2 weeks, it is ok but not tex-mex like it is at home. Plus it's crazy expensive... $20 for queso and a tiny bowl of chips, $4 for a Pepsi, it's BYOB (they don't serve alcohol) but they charge you $4 a person if you do bring booze and then $24 for a quesadilla (no sides). That is a grand total of 76 dollars people, 76!!!! That's just stupid.
Anyways, the weather is getting warmer :) On Sunday the high was 80 and it has only rained once this week and it wasn't even a lot !!! The highs are in the low 70's this week but it warms up this weekend, close to 80 !!! We still have a few beaches to visit before we can say we have been to all the local ones and then hopefully in October we will get to go to Rottnest Island. Rottnest or Rotto as the locals call it is part of Perth and it takes about a 45 minute ferry ride to get to. Lots a mixed reviews about it from the locals but we want to see for ourselves !
My cooking skills are improving !! Monday I made crunchy baked chicken (used their version of Shake and Bake) which was easy and I made carrots!!! The carrots were good and super easy to make, I just opened the can, heated them up on the stove, drained them, and then added brown sugar and butter LOL I know that really shouldn't count but hey I had never attempted carrots before and they were yum :)
On Friday, August 31, I decided to bake us some rainbow brownies, I figured since our wedding cake was in Texas and we don't get to eat it, we should at least have something ! They turned out super good and ugly. I tried to make them pretty but couldn't find pipping bags for the icing. I thought I could be creative and use a zip lock bag but well the idea was good, I just didn't execute it very well. Apparently I cut an extra hole (wasn't aware till it was too late), made the hole to big, and didn't wait long enough for the brownies to cool... Take a look LOL
A giant blob of icing plopped out while trying to write the 1, I thought I could wipe it off but no, it smeared and then kind of resembled a 2, haha. And the Y was pretty difficult as well ! Oh well, my Papa Johnny always says the ugliest desserts always taste the best :)
