In loving memory of my Papa.

This morning I received the sad news that my Papa JD has passed away and has gone to be with the Lord.  There is no doubt in my mind he is in heaven watching over us.  Papa was a faithful man of God  and a wonderful example of how a christian should live their life, a true role model to many.  I miss you so much already and would love to hear you tell all your stories again, especially about Keri and I  giving Granny eye poppers :) When Luke and I get home, a trip to Braums in your memory is a must!

There are a million emotions going through my head right now, mostly sadness and guilt.  I so wish that I could be at home with my family, helping support everyone, especially my mom and Granny.   I take some comfort in knowing he was so excited for us to be able to come here and experience this amazing adventure.

I honestly believe that if people were reincarnated into something Papa would be a toothpick :)

Our first Anniversary !!!!

On September 2, Luke and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary !! It is hard to believe  a year has already come and gone but what a wonderful year it was.  Who would have thought we would be spending part of our first year of marriage in Australia.  I have no idea what I have done in life to deserve Luke and these all these amazing opportunities in life but I make sure to thank God everyday for them , He is the reason for it all :)  I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. <3

Us in Australia :D

City Beach / Floreat Beach

For the last 2 weeks Luke and I  have gone to City Beach, located between Trigg and Cottesloe, which means it is only 25 minutes from the apartment and we LOOOVE it! I know I say every beach is our favorite but this is the new favorite! The waves are still large, the water is gorgeous, and it's one of the few dog friendly beaches, which for me means people watching :) If you know me, you know I love me some people watching.  I feel like I'm Pongo at the begining of 101 Dalmations, watching all the people walk by with their look alike dogs lol We didn't stay very long this weekend because it was a bit chilly and super windy.  Here are a few pictures ...

Master Baker

Every night at 830, I watch Cupcake Wars and it always makes me want to get up and bake something... I felt I needed an excuse to bake something  so I used our 2 month mark in Australia :) I think this was my first time to actually bake a cake all by myself and it turned out good! Yes it was a box cake but I still am proud :)

I was a little nervous when I pulled it out of the oven... looked a little volcano-ish

Decided this side was prettier

YAY, It was yummy!!! It was a vanilla and chocolate swirl... I forgot to take a pic, it really was swirly on the inside :)

Fun at Trigg

We had 3 beautiful sunny days in a row and definitely took advantage of it by going back to Trigg! I love the big waves and watching the surfers, maybe one day I will be brave and try it...I do plan on buying a boogie board for starters :)

Trigg beach

The last beach Luke and I went to was Trigg Beach.  Trigg pretty much speaks for itself, it was like a little slice of heaven.  By far my favorite and will be returning as soon as possible <3 Trigg is only a 25 minute drive from the apartment !

A crab! He was big !!

2 months!

Another month has passed us by ! It's hard to explain but time seems to be going by so fast yet so slow. I am so ready to be home and see my family and friends but, the more I adjust, the more Australia grows on me.  I definitely can see myself not wanting to leave when the temp warms up <3

It is STILL raining pretty much on a daily basis and it's still pretty cool outside.  Friday is supposed to be 75 and I can't wait :) :) According to some locals, the weather is supposed to stay in the 70's in about 2 weeks and the rain will disappear . Let's hope !

I think I have pretty much adjusted to the driving situation which makes me nervous for when we get home... I know I will be so confused.  I still naturally walk to the left side of the car to get into but haven't gotten all the in the car, buckled up, and tried to put the key in the ignition in a long time ! I can only imagine what someone would think if they actually witnessed me doing that LOL

Last week, Luke left for Newman for 8 days and I survived! I was extremely nervous about not be able to contact him if something happened or him not being able to contact me.  Newman is about a hour and a half flight from Perth and in the desert...  He seemed to have enjoyed his time there and learned a lot.  I'm not sure when he has to go back and I hope it's not soon.  The big positive out of this is he gets 5 days off!!! This will give us plenty of time together and will lets us do some serious exploring.

A lovely change of scenery after a day of nothing but rain! Took the picture from the balcony of our apartment .

This bridge is not quite a mile from the apartment.  It takes me across the highway to a walking trail along the river.

I always get wobble knees walking over!!

I love watching the sailboats on the weekends :)

My favorite place to sit and relax along the walking trail

My views

Got to see more dolphins today walking along deck :)
